Now that I am officially a blogger, I can honestly say that until now I never knew how big of a world blogging was. My knowledge of blogging mainly focused around journals or simply a means of communicating personal thoughts over the Internet. Having now had the opportunity to read more about blogging I would be very interested in using it in my own (future) classroom.
Being able to use blogging as an administrative tool to share information with both students and their parents could be very useful. It would also give the students and/or parents a way to conveniently express comments or ask questions. Since many people are very busy with their own lives a form of communication with teachers that does not take a great deal of time would help ensure the lines of communication remain open.
Concerns that would need to be addressed include legal liabilities, guidelines set by specific school districts and ensuring the rights of others are not infringed upon. If blogging were to be used within the classroom, the teacher must be aware of such concerns. Personally I do believe if used appropriately blogging within the classroom would be a very useful tool.
I must say that at first I was a little nervous about having to get acquainted with blogging. I have never been very good at or even very interested in what using technology (such as blogging) had to offer within a classroom setting. Now however my feelings towards the use of technology has certainly been enlightened. I look forward to continuing my education within the world of technology and hope that I am able to grasp future concepts and/or assignments as well as I have been able to understand and use blogging.
